ABOUT KICKQUIZ
Data sources and football facts
Sources and licence notices
Updated: 10 October 2026. KickQuiz combines original game rules and editorially written questions with football facts. The following notices describe specific sources used and their accompanying credits.
- Match reports and publications: Club, league and association publications, including UEFA and Premier League, support individual sporting events and historical facts. Links supporting guide examples appear in the game guides.
- OpenFootball: Selected Guess & Draft result questions use football.json and world-cup.json under CC0 1.0.
- Wikipedia and Wikidata: Individual football facts are researched using these projects. Structured Wikidata data is available under CC0. For Wikipedia-derived data covering selected football statistics, the Stat Duel licence notice lists exact article revisions, contributors, adaptations and the CC BY-SA 4.0 licence.
- Wikimedia Commons: Image credits identify the individual source file, author, licence and any adaptations. They are accessible through the information button beside each image.
These licences and notices apply to the specific data and images identified. Original game modes and editorial content are separate.
The Wikipedia-derived statistical data individually identified in the Stat Duel licence notice, and our adaptations described there, are provided under CC BY-SA 4.0. You may use, adapt and redistribute those components, including commercially, under that licence. Keep the source and contributor credits, licence link and change notices; distribute adaptations under the same or a compatible licence. Our terms of use do not restrict these licence rights.
1. General principle
KickQuiz uses football information descriptively and editorially in quiz questions. This includes widely known facts such as player, club and competition names, careers, line-ups, historic transfers, statistics, nationalities, positions and historic transfer fees. This information is not presented as official data, a live data feed, or an authoritative market or performance assessment.
Editorial questions are compiled from publicly available information, our own research and plausibility checks, historic match and squad information, public statistics, freely available match reports and, where images are used, publicly licensed image sources.
2. Sources by game area
- General quiz questions, records, leagues and competitions: widely known football facts, official results and competition information, public press and statistical sources, and editorial review.
- Transfers and transfer fees: public transfer reports, historic transfer information, generally accessible media reports and our own plausibility checks. Fees are editorial quiz estimates, not official financial information.
- Team Line-up: publicly available squad, starting-line-up, match-report and player-position information. Line-ups are curated as quiz data and may use historic or editorially simplified presentations.
- Doppelpass and Career Path: publicly known club careers and player spells, editorially reviewed and delivered as a static app dataset.
- Stat Duel: publicly known player and performance data, simplified and reviewed for quiz comparisons.
3. Trademarks, logos and images
Club, competition, stadium and player names are used only factually and descriptively so that users can understand quiz questions. KickQuiz claims no rights in third-party trademarks, club or competition names, logos, badges or player images. Official logos, club badges and player images are not used as KickQuiz's own branding.
Where an individual quiz question uses images or external content, the applicable source and licence notices must be provided. Missing information or problematic content can be reported to the support address.
Player photographs come from Wikimedia Commons and are used only where the author, source file and an acceptable free licence (CC0, Public Domain, CC BY or CC BY-SA) or an individual free reuse permission are documented. Kenan Yıldız’s photograph uses the Hungarian Football Federation MLSZ reuse permission with source attribution. The information button beside an image opens the full attribution, including the licence and Commons link.
Evidence for the game guides
The game guides add solving strategies and examples to the rules. Historic claims there link directly to the relevant match reports, club information or statistics from UEFA, FC Bayern and the Premier League. Those references support the named examples; they are not blanket evidence for the entire question catalogue. The transfer-fee calculation is fictional and clearly marked as such.
4. Corrections and rights notices
Football facts change, and editorial datasets can contain errors. If a question is wrong, a source is missing or you believe rights are being infringed, email support.app.kk@gmail.com or use the Support page. Please identify the question and game mode and give a brief explanation.
