One player's value is shown and the other's is hidden. In Stat Duel, decide whether the challenger has a higher, lower or equal value.

How a streak works

First choose a category and the offered statistic. The round shows a reference player and a challenger. In the browser you have 15 seconds to decide. After a correct answer, the challenger becomes the next reference and the streak continues. A wrong answer or expired timer ends the run.

Read the unit before the name

Read the exact statistic above the comparison. League goals are not goals in all club competitions. Appearances are not goals. A famous name can help with an estimate, but cannot replace the right frame of reference.

EXAMPLE · PREMIER LEAGUE GOALS

Alan Shearer: 260 · Thierry Henry: ?

Is Henry's total number of Premier League goals higher or lower than Shearer's 260?

Show solution and reasoning

Lower: 175. The Premier League lists Shearer with 260 goals and Henry with 175, a difference of 85. Only goals in this competition are compared, not every goal of their careers. View the Premier League goals overview.

Why scope matters

Two figures can only be meaningfully compared if they use the same definition. When researching, check the competition, period and counting method. A league-goal list cannot simply be combined with statistics that include cups and European competitions. For active players, the date of the data can matter too.

The quiz uses stored values and is not a live feed. When reporting a discrepancy, name both players and the exact statistic. A source using the same scope is more useful than a differently defined career total. For your next round, remember comparisons: who was clearly ahead of whom, and in which competition?
