Eleven flags, one formation and one season: in Team Line-up, you identify the club behind a historic side. What matters is the combination of clues, not a single nationality.

How a round works

Choose an unlocked level. The pitch shows player nationalities in their positions, with the season and formation above it. Enter the club name and confirm your answer. Player names are revealed with the solution. A correct answer moves you forward in the campaign; after a wrong answer, you can try again.

From one striking detail to the whole team

Start with a position you recognise: perhaps the goalkeeper, a particular full-back or the two wingers. Then check whether your theory fits the season. A player may have represented several clubs during his career, so the stated period narrows the options. The formation offers additional guidance, but does not prove the identity of a club by itself.

EXAMPLE · 2012/13 SEASON

Which team could this be?

Think of a line-up with a German goalkeeper, an Austrian left-back, and Dutch and French wingers. You are looking for the club whose team faced Dortmund in the 2013 Champions League final.

Show solution and reasoning

FC Bayern Munich. Manuel Neuer, David Alaba, Arjen Robben and Franck Ribéry were in the starting line-up for that final. The match context turns initially broad nationality clues into a specific historic identification. UEFA lists the line-up for the final on 25 May 2013. View UEFA's match record.

Avoiding common mix-ups

A historic starting eleven is not the same as the full squad for a season. Injuries, suspensions and rotation can change the personnel. When researching, compare the relevant match report rather than only a list of everyone registered for the club. A positional graphic is also a simplified presentation, not a complete tactical analysis.

If you notice a discrepancy, tell support the mode, level and displayed season. A specific match report helps us verify the line-up.
