A single career clue fits many footballers. In Who Am I?, you find the player who matches all the clues together.
How the mode works
Choose an available level. You initially see two clues. Use “Show another clue” to reveal more facts while any remain. Enter the player's name. The solution appears after your answer; you can retry a round you did not solve.
Rank clues by how much they reveal
A country or position usually creates a large group. A particular final, an unusual combination of clubs or a precisely described event narrows it considerably. Keep several candidates in mind until a clue genuinely separates them. Finally, check the earlier statements too: one matching final clue does not make contradictory clues correct.
EXAMPLE · A MOMENT IN 2014
Three clues, one player
- I played for Germany in the 2014 World Cup final.
- I entered that final as a substitute.
- I scored the decisive goal against Argentina in the 113th minute.
Show solution and reasoning
Mario Götze. The first clue describes several players. Coming on as a substitute narrows the group; the scorer and minute resolve the question uniquely. UEFA reports on the goal set up by André Schürrle. Read UEFA's World Cup final report.
Careful reading pays off
“Was in the squad”, “started” and “came on as a substitute” mean different things. Likewise, winning a trophy with a club is not the same as personally playing in the final. For dates, check whether a calendar year or season is meant. Such distinctions often decide between two initially plausible names.
You do not have to guess as early as possible. Use the extra clues to understand the connection. If an answer surprises you, ask which clue would have ruled out your first candidate. You will retain more than just another name.
